| Project Leadership is a Project of National Significance funded by the
Administration on Developmental Disabilities. Three partners Self-Advocates
Becoming Empowered, Inclusion Inc., and Community Options Center on Innovation
manage the project.
The purpose of the grant is to:

Provide self-advocates and parent leaders from the United States and
its territories with training on Self-Determination and Federal Policy.
Develop a national network of self-advocates and parents. |
Our accomplishments to date include:

Training of 73 self-advocates and parents from 36 states and territories.
Development of a training curriculum on self-determination and federal policy.
Sponsoring of two regional meetings. |
The grant was funded in 1999 for three years.

Individuals who participate in this training must have a developmental disability
or have a son or daughter with a developmental disability. A developmental
disability is a disability that occurs on or before a persons 22 birthday.
This disability results in a person needing supports and services to assist
them in managing their daily lives.
